Paul’s letter to the believers in Colossae is unique in that the apostle didn’t plant this church and had never personally met its members. However, in spite of this apparent distance, Paul’s heart burns for them to know and enjoy a glorious Savior who is high above, and far better than any other affection or pursuit competing for their allegiance. In ways that are unrivaled in the rest of the New Testament, Colossians lifts Jesus high and calls His people to a supreme and satisfying image of their Lord.
