With Saul having died, once again “there was no king in Israel.” But the Lord had been at work for years preparing David to take the throne. In 2 Samuel, as we walk with the new king through his life and reign, we are continually called to fix our eyes and hearts not simply upon David, but to find in him the hope of a better King and a greater Kingdom.
