The Church is the body of Christ, and Jesus is the head of the Church (Col. 1:18). Membership in a local church is a public declaration that we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ and to a local gathering of believers. Membership is a commitment to the Lord as well as a commitment to carry out the commands of the New Testament to love, serve, and protect one another for the building up of our church body and to glorify God. Our desire is that membership at Kennewick Baptist Church would display to those around us what God’s truth and love look like as we live for the glory of God.

The video below is a helpful/brief explanation of what we believe the Bible teaches about membership within a local church and why we value it so highly here at KBC:

Next Steps

Step 1: Express Interest

You can do this by contacting the church office or filling out a Connection Card on Sunday mornings. One of our staff will then let you know when the next membership workshop will be taking place.

Step 2: Attend a Membership Workshop

These classes cover some of our core beliefs about Jesus, the church, and why church membership is important. Participating in this workshop does not obligate you to join but is a necessary step in pursuing membership at KBC.

Step 3: Fill Out a Membership Application

These will be given to you at the Membership Workshop.

Step 4: Agree with KBC’s Statement of Faith and Covenant

Our statement of faith can be found on the website or in the lobby. The covenant can be found on the Membership Application.

Step 5: Meet with our Pastors

Upon completing the membership workshop and application, one of our pastors will contact you to set up a time to meet together during which you will have an opportunity to share your testimony and ask any additional questions you might have.
