We believe life is best lived not just in “rows” (corporate gatherings) but also in “circles” (smaller groups). We have not been created to walk through life alone, and our Good Shepherd calls us to be a family . . . and we take that seriously.  At KBC we meet in two primary kinds of small groups.

LIFEgroups

LIFEgroups at Kennewick Baptist Church exist to encourage discipleship in the context of a small group where believers can grow in Christ-likeness, care for one another, enjoy fellowship, exercise their spiritual gifts, and serve others through evangelism and mercy.  LIFEgroups are ongoing in nature. When God calls individual people to Himself He makes them part of a people for His own possession. Once we were not a people, but now we are God’s people; we belong to God. But being a follower of Christ is not a solo endeavor – we also belong to one another and have a responsibility to one another. Discipleship happens in the context of relationships; therefore we want to encourage people to develop relationships over time so they can know one another more personally. We believe this will best enable the kind of imitation and accountability that will help us “stir one another to love and good works” (Hebrews 10:24).

GROWTHgroups

GROWTHgroups at Kennewick Baptist Church exist to encourage discipleship by equipping people with a right understanding of the whole counsel of God so they will grow in conviction, character and competency.  GROWTHgroups are short term in nature. In Hebrews 13:20-21 we read, “Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.” God’s will for His people is that they would be equipped with everything good that they may do His will. Growth Groups aim to train people to think and live in the way God commands us. These groups primarily take place on Wednesday evenings at the church (during the spring and fall seasons) and cover a variety of topics.
